The Post - Young woman’s petition for life-saving neurodiversity diagnosis (28 July 2023)

Writer's picture: The PostThe Post

Even after Jas Mcintosh was officially diagnosed with ADHD and autism, healthcare providers denied it, dismissing what became a “pivotal moment” for her.

According to one of her psychiatrists not being a “non-verbal male” meant she didn’t have autism; and being able to sit still, get good grades and not be “running around the place” meant she didn’t have ADHD, But by the time she was diagnosed in 2021, the 22-year-old had experienced a shift.
